West Australian Metals is an ASX-listed company
whose principal asset is the 80% owned Marenica Uranium Project
located in the uranium rich Damara Province in Namibia. (Trading
symbol: (ASX:WME).
The Company's principal asset is the Marenica Uranium Project located
in the uranium rich Damara Province in Namibia. The project covers
706sq km, with high prospectivity for both secondary and primary
uranium deposits.

Based on historical and new data the Company has delineated a uranium
resource containing 34 million pounds of U308 within Exclusive Prospecting
License (EPL) 3287 which covers 706 sq km. The project lies in the
same uranium province as the Rossing and Langer Heinrich uranium
mines and immediately north of the large Trekkopje Mine which is
currently being developed by Areva.
Marenica Project, Namibia
- Inferred Mineral Resource containing 34 Mlbs U3O8 in 111 million
tonnes averaging 140 ppm at a cut-off grade of 80 ppm U3O8
- 94% of resource less than 40m deep
- HQ diamond drilling to commence shortly to test several key
locations around the Marenica Dome for “alaskite”
– hosted primary uranium
The regional geology of this area consists of basin and dome tectonic
features, where massive marbles of the Karibib Formation form three
prominent domal structures, while steeply dipping biotite schists
(Kuiseb Formation) form the basins similar to that of the Rossing
Mine. Potential to find a hard rock deposit is therefore encouraging.
The recent discovery of uraninite bearing alaskites on the Marenica
Project further enhances the hard rock potential of the area.
- Three styles of mineralisation have been delineated by SRK,
namely:
- a primary source, minerals identified are uraninite and euxenite;
- an oxidised source in bedrock (secondary), major mineral present
is carnotite; and
- calcrete-hosted uranium mineralisation, major mineral present
is carnotite
